AI Matching Opt-Out
California law requires us to explain how our AI makes decisions about you — and to let you opt out. Here's what you need to know.
What our AI matching system does
MeetPeeps uses an automated AI system powered by Claude (Anthropic) to decide who to introduce you to. This qualifies as Automated Decision-Making Technology (ADMT) for a “significant decision” under California law because it determines your connection opportunities on the platform.
The system analyzes your profile to make these matching decisions. When a mutual availability window is found with a high-signal match, both parties are introduced automatically.
Data the AI uses
- •Your stated goals and self-description — including what kind of people you're looking to meet
- •AI-inferred interests, communication style, relationship intent, and context (e.g., someone seeking friendship, a romantic partner, a co-founder, an investor, a creative collaborator)
- •Calendar free/busy availability
- •Past match outcomes (accepted/declined, feedback ratings)
- •Behavioral signals (response patterns, engagement)
Potential impacts
The AI matching system determines who you get introduced to and when. The AI may prioritize certain people or contexts over others based on your inferred profile and connection intent. This shapes the quality and direction of the relationships you build through MeetPeeps.
Your opt-out right
You have the right to opt out of automated decision-making at any time.
What happens if you opt out: You will not receive AI-generated match suggestions until a member of our team reviews your profile manually. Human-reviewed matching may take longer and may result in fewer introductions. We will notify you by email when your case has been reviewed.
You can re-enable automated matching at any time by toggling back below.
Request human review
Regardless of your opt-out status, you may request a human review of any automated matching decision at any time. Use the toggle above, or contact us at leedan@meet-peeps.com if you have trouble.
